Welcome back! We return after a week off ready to tackle our next big hiatus project – the eleven doctors! With 11 weeks until the airing of the 2011 Christmas Special, we’ve decided to spend that time looking at all of the doctors and famous arcs they’ve done. We begin with what started it all, Wiliam Hartnell as the First Doctor in An Unearthly Child. Brian, Bobby and Nancy have some thoughts and theories, and we get to some listener feedback as well. Until next week when we visit the Second Doctor, sit back, relax and enjoy the only podcast that also travels in time!

Matt Smith Leaving Doctor Who?

There may be some big changes for Matt Smith in the near future.  Smith was recently interviewed by the popular music channel, VH1, where he has eluded  that he may be leaving Doctor Who once season 7 wraps up, next year. He claims that he would like to move to Los Angeles, along with fellow friend, Andrew Garlfield.  Matt Smith had this to say: “I’ve got another year of Doctor Who, but then I’m certainly going to come and give it a shot – come and hang out in LA”.  This would certainly make this the biggest journey since his travels in the T.A.R.D.I.S.!  So, what does this mean for our beloved 11th Doctor?  Nobody knows as of yet, since nothing has been officially confirmed, but Matt Smith had recently graced our televisions, post-Doctor Who, to attend the 2011 Scream Awards (which aired on the Spike network), where he had accepted an award for Best Science Fiction Actor and revealed the aforementioned tidbit of his possible departure to Vh1′s Kate Spencer.  The interview can be found here: http://www.thefablife.com/, and the accompanying video, found at the link below.

Welcome to the Doctor Who “Totally Awesome, Ridiculously Doctor-like Internet Stuff” or TARDIS. This is a daily feature here on Doctor Who Cast. We scour the internet for the sweetest of the sweet that lovers of the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who have created.

Today’s “Totally Awesome, Ridiculously Doctor-like Internet Stuff” is a Doctor Who fanart created by (who else?) a fan, who had submitted this drawing onto buzzfeed.  This site has a page-full of Doctor Who related fanart, which are all awesome in their own way, so I urge you all to check it out!  But the following piece of art, however, stood out to me the most.  Depicted below is a beautiful, yet, dismal, scene of River Song killing The Doctor in front of his TARDIS.

This pic is a gorgeous display of one of the many ways The Doctor’s death could have played out, had River decided to take a more savage approach to murdering him.  It comes off as morose and, simultaneously, romantic.  The work of this particular fanart looks like something reminiscent of a Tarot card, between the shades of the colors, the placement of the images, and The Victorianesque tones and details.  I admire the fact that the artist included the Gallifreyan symbols on the bottom, bordering River’s name; I thought that was a nice touch!  Overall, I find it to be an impressive work of art.  You can also find this, among other works, here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/doctorwho/the-very-best-of-doctor-who-fan-art

At long last, the finale of Series 6 is upon us! Without their trusty traveling companion Nancy (who is, you know, traveling), Bobby, BJ and Brian soldier on and discuss the revelations that we just saw as well as comment on the season as a whole. There may or may not be more Darth Vader soundboard, BJ pimps himself yet again and Bobby locks Brian into a battle of (half) wits regarding the Doctor’s 12th regeneration. As always, sit back, relax and enjoy the only podcast that also travels in time!
