News | I-Con 31 Coverage | Doctor Whocast

We Whocasters got our chance to celebrate and honor Doctor Who and some of its stars, as we hung out at the Stony Brook University campus, home to Long Island’s I-Con, a couple of weeks ago. What is I-Con, you ask?  I-Con is a convention which celebrates geekdom in many forms. The convention contains a vast array of dealers and merchants; there are also numerous panels, including many discussions to be had. Plus, it was complete with Cosplay galore!

This past I-Con had just celebrated its 31st consecutive year, and I had the privilege of being one of the many attendees for this fun-filled, annual event! Aside from the conveniently close location, what had really prompted me to go, this year, were the few Doctor Who alumni who had graced every Whovian’s presence.  Among the Doctor Who-related guests, were: Paul McGann, Frazer Hynes, Daphne Ashbrook, Colin Spaull, and the man behind the Dalek, Steve Gostelow.

As life would have it on Doctor Who, time is a precious thing, and I don’t even own a TARDIS, unfortunately, so I had to catch whatever I could in the limited time that I was physically on the grounds. Friday night was spent entirely in the Dealer’s Room, as I had arrived later than most of the convention goers. Upon perusing the floor, I did happen to find several booths dedicated to Doctor Whocast’s beloved show. And let me tell you, I felt like a kid in a candy store! My first purchase was a set of four, Seal of Rasillon coasters that I had bought from Gallifreyan Embassy.  The coasters are blue and made of a leather-like material, which provides slight durability, albeit, I will most likely keep them out for display and not use them for their intended purpose, as to keep them in good condition.

REVIEW | THE DOCTOR, THE WIDOW AND THE WARDROBE | DOCTOR WHO CAST

We hope you fellow Whovians had a delightfully joyous, holiday season. Now that we’ve unwrapped all of our Doctor Who goodies and have settled down from all the holiday WHOpla, we are finally ready to delve into some more thoughts from this season’s Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe. Many of you may have already heard our feedback and opinions via our podcast, but in case any of you had missed it, we’re providing you with a written overview of the episode, as well. Be forewarned, though; spoilers ahead!

The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe begins with The Doctor falling to Earth from an exploding ship in outer-space. Once he has landed, suited up in space apparel, an unsuspecting woman, Madge Arwell, encounters him (backwards helmet and all) in a self-made ditch and escorts him back to his TARDIS. The Doctor, then, informs Madge that if she makes a mere wish that she shall see him again. Several years later, Madge receives word that her husband, a WWII pilot, has crashed his plane and perished. Keeping this news from her, children, Lily and Cyril, Madge decides to provide a normal, happy Christmas for them. Upon doing so, she follows The Doctor’s orders and makes a wish. Lo and behold, the Arwell family takes a holiday to their relatives house, only to be greeted by “The Caretaker”, a.k.a., The Doctor. Whilst showing them the quirky additions and decorative touches he’s made to the house, a mysterious blue present is found in the sitting room, where all of the adventures shall ensue.

Doctor Who Video Game for PS3 Announced | Doctor Who Cast

Whovians will, either, rejoice or hang their heads in shame at another, breaking media announcement. Following the recent reveal of a possible Doctor Who movie to come, we have stumbled upon other Who news: The official blog for Playstation announced, today, that there will be a Doctor Who video game in the making, titled, Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock.  The title was developed by Supermassive Games, the developers of the games, Tumble and Start the Party. There is no mention of a release date, nor is there any further information on this game, just yet.  The only other inkling we have into the game is this brief, teaser trailer, shown below. All we can really hope for is that they stick with the source material and that this impending game will be more than playable, and hopefully, replayable. (Source: IGN)

It is the only Podcast that travels in time, as well as, shrinks and zaps you into the Teselecta in order to prevent you from being blasted out of existance by River Song.

For today’s TARDIS entry, we bring you a very special, “Sexy” edition, featuring, well, TARDISES! That’s right – it is pluralized, for there is a TARDIS here, a TARDIS there, TARDISES are everywhere! (There are, most certainly, plenty to go around for each incarnation of The Doctor and then some.) The following picture displays a myriad of TARDISES from an obvious, avid collector. First and foremost, you have the life-sized Police Box, which not only is displayed among other, smaller duplicates, but it also has said duplicates displayed on its shelves, and within its glass doors, where it serves as a display case, not solely the display, itself. It must be “bigger on the inside” to fit that many versions of our favorite time machine! Each individual TARDIS, inside the case, varies in size and shades of blue, which makes it apparent that each one is supposed to be a replica from each era of Doctor Who. Please gaze your eyes, downward, towards the marvelous blue cluster. This was brought to you courtesy of Epic Ponyz: http://www.epicponyz.com/2011/12/doctor-who-tardis-collection.html Please make sure to visit this site and check out all of their other goodies. And, please don’t also forget to click the link, below, and listen to our latest podcast, as we revisit the Colin Baker years.

These would likely make the universe combust!
