Two Lost Episodes of Doctor Who Have Been Recovered
As some of you may or may not have heard, two lost episodes of (classic) Doctor Who have been retrieved by BBC, as revealed on Sunday, December 11, 2011. So, what if you were a TVS engineer who just happened to be casually chatting about Doctor Who, only to discover that you’ve had two missing episodes in your possession since 1980? Well, that is exactly what happened to a man named Terry Burnett, while discussing the show with Ralph Montagu, a member of the Restoration Team at Radio Times. (source: Doctor Who News and BBC News)
The first episode in discussion was called, Air Lock, from the Galaxy 4 story, during the William Hartnell years. The second one to be handed over was the second installment from The Underwater Menace story with Patrick Troughton. Both full episodes will not be released until they are completely restored. However, a couple of clips have been provided by the Doctor Who News website. BBC News has also provided a video with commentary from Ralph Montagu on this amazing recovery. (Please click the above links to view more, or you can watch the clips below.) In the universe of Doctor Who, these findings are like pieces of treasure to die-hard Whovians. All we can do, now, is await the full restoration so we can all delve back in time for more Who adventures! Look for a few clips after the jump.
